The T-Model 9.2 Fingerprint Match Probability Calculator © estimates both the probability that a particular arrangement of fingerprint ridge features with occur in a part of a distal fingerprint in a person in the relevant population, and it estimates the conservative (upper bound) number of fingerprint close matches or "look-alikes" as well, thereby establishing a demarcation between sufficiency and insufficnecy to infer identification.
The latest version of the calculator includes estimates of numbers of look-alikes for fingerprint populations that range from one hundred to one trillion. This allows the trier of fact to see how inference for fingerprint identification depends on the relevant population for the case at hand.
